House Rosalba/ Oyster Bay
House Rosalba was a typical, low-maintenance and architecturally uninspiring beach home. The clients wished to make modifications to the house in the form of internal alterations and changes to the existing façade in order to achieve a more modern aesthetic. The proportions and functionality of the home also needed improvement.
In addition to the internal changes, the architect added a second skin to the building’s exterior, in the form of a lightweight screen made of timber with adequately proportioned openings. Furthermore, this screen protects the house from the harsh western sun and the strong southwesterly winds.
