Project Description

Centurion Aerospace Village is a series of mixed-use office buildings within a spatial framework for the land east of the Waterkloof Airforce Base. Chris Wilkinson, in his capacity as director of Comrie + Wilkinson architects and Urban Designers, in association with VN Architects, was selected as winner of the design competition for the Centurion Aerospace Village (CAV), an initiative of the Department of Trade and Industry and Aerosud.

The brief required the design of , integrating the existing Aerosud facility and a future phase of aircraft hangars.  The public spaces relate closely to the importance of the buildings that define them, creating a distinct hierarchy of spaces. Pedestrian friendly connections between the public spaces further integrate the project with the existing facilities and a proposed taxi rank.
