Anglo American’s Urban Future/ Johannesburg
Apart from its influential role as a public space, the re-invention of Anglo Plaza serves a dual purpose of enhancing pedestrian activity and interaction within its immediate urban surroundings, as well as playing its role within the urban cityscape of Johannesburg. Through the symbolic representation of public obligation and openness, the intervention manifests itself as a landmark, not only within the Central Business District, but also within the greater city context of one of South Africa’s capital cities. Its contribution to the Johannesburg skyline stands as a beacon of orientation approaching the CBD’s boarders.
